If you want compilations that delve a little deeper I would suggest the 2 CD “Anthology Volume 1 and 2” along with “Beast Of Dio 2” which covers much more of his entire career. Bottom line, if you want a strictly “greatest hits” album this one is a good pick up. You will find nothing here from his latter day discs, but they are covered on “Beast Of Dio Volume 2” which is a nice companion piece to this one. Man On The Silver Mountain (1975) was one of Ronnie James Dios most well known songs, mocking Gods authority. It is really hard to capture these years on one disc, but what is represented here is very good. Ronnie James Dio is infamous for his evil work with woeful Satan worshipping bands such as Black Sabbath, Elf, Rainbow, Deep Purple, Heaven & Hell and others. I mean, it is fierce and aggressive but still melodic. The first one I did on Carey did not go over well with him. His music is full of some kind of 'dark power'. They did some great stuff, but also some rather pedestrian material as well. For me his best songwriting was during his stints in Rainbow and Black Sabbath. I got to see him live several times with Dio and once with Black Sabbath.

The late great Ronnie James Dio is my favorite vocalist of all time.
